Women in Optometry - May 11, 2026
Clear Vision Surgical recently hosted a Women in Optometry evening in the Kitchener-Waterloo region, bringing together female optometrists for an event focused on education, collaboration, and professional connection.
The evening featured presentations from Dr. Moinul and Dr. Sylvia Rodriguez, who shared both clinical insights and personal perspectives on their careers in ophthalmology. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about emerging technologies, including Scout Pro, and how these innovations can be integrated into private practice settings. The event encouraged open discussion, knowledge sharing, and meaningful dialogue among colleagues in a supportive environment.
This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration within the optometric community and supporting continued learning across all stages of practice. Based on the strong engagement and feedback, we look forward to continuing similar opportunities for connection and education in the future.
2025
Throughout the year, we hosted and participated in a series of educational events designed to support patient care, professional collaboration, and ongoing learning within the ophthalmic community. Some of the highlights include:
May 21st
In collaboration with Laser Vision London, we hosted a dinner meeting led by Dr. Gulamhusein and Dr. Iordanous to connect with local Stratford optometrists and provide education on cataract and refractive surgery during a period of transition in their community. The session covered advances in intraocular lens (IOL) technology, public versus private cataract pathways, current wait-time considerations, and patient selection for surgical care. The evening encouraged thoughtful discussion and knowledge sharing, helping clarify evolving terminology and treatment options while reinforcing the importance of accessible, collaborative surgical care close to home.
November 7th-9th
Clear Vision Surgical participated at the University of Waterloo Fall Tradeshow to connect with optometrists, share updates on our services, and gather feedback to help shape future initiatives. The event provided valuable opportunities for conversation with both new and established practitioners, fostering collaboration and open dialogue around patient care and clinical needs. Insights gathered throughout the tradeshow helped inform upcoming educational programming and partnership opportunities for the year ahead.
Fall 2025
In collaboration with the School of Optometry, we welcomed students from the University of Waterloo for Observation Days designed to introduce future clinicians to surgical care early in their training. Students had the opportunity to observe live surgeries, learn about clinic flow, and gain insight into patient counselling and refractive technologies. The experience generated strong engagement from both students and faculty, supporting meaningful connections and fostering early familiarity with collaborative surgical care.
